Work

Aside from my journalism, I have also done a few other things…

Whitireia Journalism School

Starting in May 2008, I worked for a six week period in New Zealand as a tutor in online journalism for Whitireia Community Polytech. The course is led by Jim Tucker, widely regarded as New Zealand’s finest journalism educator. The course was based on the famous Cuba Street in Wellington. Part of my work for Whitireia included setting up NewsWire.co.nz, their purpose built news website.

Vodafone NZ

Social networking presentation - June 2008
I gave a presentation to approximately 100 members of staff from Vodafone NZ — including the chief executive — on how best to utilise social networking and blogging to attract and engage their customers.

University of Lincoln

Guest lecture: Blogging for student journalists - 26th February 2008
I conducted a guest lecture at the University of Lincoln on starting a journalism blog.

Open day workshops - 2007-2008
For faculty open days, I took several classes of approx 15 prospective students and taught basic journalism skills in interviewing, print layout and online journalism.
